Key Facts

In return for Irving, the Nets will receive Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith, according to Bleacher Report, ESPN and the Athletic, all citing anonymous sources.

The Nets will also receive a 2029 first-round draft pick, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 second-round pick, according to the Athletic.

Markieff Morris will be traded to Dallas along with Irving, according to the Athletic.

The trade will be completed once both teams have a call with the NBA, according to the Associated Press.

Key Background
On Friday, it was reported that Irving requested to be traded off the Nets ahead of the NBA’s Thursday trade deadline. Irving, 30, has played for the Nets since 2019, a time in which he was no stranger to controversy. Irving sat out during home games in the 2021-2022 season because he was unvaccinated for Covid-19, and has said he missed out on a four-year, $100 million contract extension for doing so. Irving was benched last year for eight games after he promoted antisemitic content on social media, causing him to lose roughly $3.6 million before he eventually apologized and returned to the team. Nike cut ties with him in December after the fallout. Despite his controversial actions, Irving is one of the league’s top scorers and was recently chosen as a starting NBA All Star.

Big Number
Over $36.9 million. That’s how much Irving is expected to make in the 2022-2023 season. In 2021, Irving made Forbes’ list of the highest-paid athletes, with estimated earnings of $44 million, though he dropped off the list last year.

Forbes Valuation
We estimate Cuban’s net worth at $4.6 billion. The Mavericks were the eighth-most valuable NBA team last year, at $3.3 billion according to Forbes’ estimates.

Tangnet
Irving will join star Luka Dončić on the Mavericks, who was also selected as a starting NBA All Star.

LeBron is one of today's most sought-after basketball stars, having won an incredible 174 NBA Playoffs wins and played 266 games.

What is the difference of a technical foul and a foul flagrantly in the NBA

A technical foul in the NBA is a penalty for unsportsmanlike behaviour, such as arguing with officials or excessive celebration. A technical foul will result in one free shot and the opposing side will be given possession of the ball.

A flagrant foul occurs when a player engages in violent or excessively aggressive physical contact with another player. It results in two free throw attempts for the opposing team and possession of the ball. Flagrant one is the most severe and Flagrant 2 is the least. Flagrant one, which is less severe than Flagrant 2, does not result in an expulsion from the game.

Unlawful contact between two people on the court is called a personal foul. This is often called illegal hand-checking or pushing an opponent. Personal fouls may also lead to free throw attempts or possession of the ball by the opposing team. However, unlike technical fouls and flagrant fouls, personal fouls do not necessarily reflect unsportsmanlike behaviour.

In the NBA, all fouls can result in free throw attempts or possession of the ball for the opposing team. The intent behind each foul and the severity are the key to determining the difference between technical fouls or flagrant or personal fouls.

Which NBA player has the most blocked shots in one season?

Mark Eaton set the all-time records for blocks (456) and blocks per game (5.56) in a season during 1984-85. Eaton's total for that season is the highest single-season NBA record.

Hakeem Olajuwon currently holds the NBA record for most career blocks, with 3,830. Throughout his 18-year career and 1,238 games played, Olajuwon averaged 21.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.1 blocks per game.

Who invented basketball

While the origins of basketball are not known, many believe that James Naismith invented it in 1891, while he was a teacher at Springfield College, now the International Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA), Training School. Naismith invented the basic rules of basketball and put a peach basket on an elevated track. He formed nine teams from his 18-member class and began to teach them the basics. The original version used a soccer ball, and two peach baskets tacked to either end of a gymnasium. Players could only shoot at the basket from below; goaltending was not yet a part of the game. Basketball spread quickly across America and was soon organized with professional teams playing at large venues. It is still one of the most beloved sports in the globe.
