The Los Angeles Lakers will hold workouts with both DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonard on Friday, according to reports by TNT’s Chris Haynes and The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Cousins, 32, last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season, suiting up in 31 games for the Denver Nuggets and 12 games for the Milwaukee Bucks.
The four-time all-star was previously a member of the Lakers during the 2019-20 season but was unable to play due to an ACL injury.
A two-time All-NBA Team member, Cousins has averaged 19.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 654 career games.
Leonard, 30, last played in 2020-21 with the Miami Heat. He was suspended for one week and fined $50,000 for using an anti-Semitic slur on a live stream. He was also required to participate in a cultural diversity program by the NBA.
He was subsequently traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and released.
In nine career NBA seasons, Leonard has averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds while shooting 48.2 per cent from the field and 39 per cent from three.
The Lakers currently hold a 19-22 record and the 12th spot in the Western Conference.
